Nora Nirhamo | 2019/04/12

Softability supports its employees´ constant learning and one of the important supporting sectors is the employees´ hobby activities. This year Softability is supporting ComBounD Hackathon, organized in ComBounD lan event, where a couple of Softability employees are members of the team. The event is held in Salo IoT Campus on April 19th-21st!

Software development industry is continually reforming. New technologies are evolving while the old ones are dying out. For those who are working in the industry, this means constant learning and keeping professional skills updated.

Software development is also one of the few industries where the line between hobby and work is quite vague. It is very common that most of software developers have started their career from doing it as a hobby. It is also very common that developers study new technologies and do their own projects after work.

Softability supports its employees´ constant learning and one of the important supporting factors is the employees´ hobby activities. “We support our employees´ hobby activities if those are somehow improving their professional skills. In the past years, we have supported very different kinds of investments depending on the employees´ projects, for example related to home automation, virtual reality and robotics”, says Softability CEO Janne Repo.

A couple of Softability employees have been participating several times in ComBounD lan event organized in Salo. This year Softability takes part in the event by supporting ComBounD Hackathon. The event is held in Salo IoT Campus on on April 19th-21st. In this year’s Mindstorm Hackathon the participating teams are going to build robots with Lego Mindstorm kits. “This Hackathon event expands our supported technology spectrum to Lego robots. “Any hobby activity isn’t too extraordinary for us”, smiles Repo.

What is ComBounD Hackathon?

ComBounD Hackathon is a coding event for game and application programmers, where teams are developing an application or a game within the given rules and time. Even though it is a competition, the main idea of Hackathon is to have fun, get to know new people and learn something new. That´s why Hackathon suits both experts and beginners.

More information about ComBounD:

“ComBounD is a lan event, where enthusiastic computer gamers are gathering for a weekend to play together. During the event you can take part in different kinds of gaming competitions and small tournaments, where it is possible to win awards in addition to fame and glory. ComBounD stands out of the similar events because of its Hackathon and sense of community.”
