As one of the MyTech companies, Softability is supporting MyTech program, which is realized in middle and high schools. Program strengthens phenomenon-based project learning and introduces students to technology companies. Karakallio 8th graders visited Softability and got a preview of what technology industry has to offer.
In his presentation, Softability CEO Janne Repo demonstrated that nowadays technology is almost everywhere around us and it has become an inseparable part of our daily routines. Finland is one of the top countries in technology development and the industry needs even more enthusiastic and skillful people in future.
Apart from gaming some of the students were also taking first steps in coding. Based on the conversations after visiting Softability, some of the students who didn´t have previous experience in coding, got interested in it too.
“Softability has always had positive attitude towards interns, and we all the time have future top experts growing in our engaging and supporting working environment. Looks like it is going to be easy for us to find new interns in the upcoming years, because there has already been a lot of interest towards our internship”, says Repo smiling.
How technology industry is changing in future?
Technology is still evolving fast, which means the industry might be at least partly changed when Karakallio 8th graders are stepping into work life. Students were very interested in what kind of things they will be dealing with in future. It is not possible to predict exactly what future is going to look like, but according to Repo, it is quite safe to say that at least artificial intelligence (AI) will be present in everyone’s lives at some point. There is already a huge amount of data collected on different life aspects and along with IoT development even more data will be collected. We are now just learning how to utilize all this information in decision making. In future we will see a big change in work tasks, that are associated with handling data.
“Technology, machines and devices themselves might not be even as interesting, as are the achievements that can be accomplished with their help. Technologies are the tools that enable new solutions for our planet´s big challenges.”

More information about MyTech program:
“In Finland we have one of the world’s best education systems and lots of interesting technology companies. We want to support cooperation of middle and high schools with vocational schools and colleges as well as with companies. In that way, students will have more information and deeper understanding of education and work life opportunities.
We have started a program for middle and high schools, which strengthens phenomenon-based project learning and introduces students to technology companies. Math, natural science and/or technology related study projects are executed at schools within the normal classes. The program includes one project day, when students are visiting colleges, universities and technology companies.”
