There is a tragedy going on in Ukraine as millions of people have been forced to leave their homes because of the ongoing war. Some people have not even been able to leave their homes but have been trapped in battlefields. Civilians in particular are now in the need of help to survive day to day life. Internationally and also in Finland, there has been an unprecedented desire to help Ukrainians in this very difficult situation.
A desire to help has also risen among Softability employees.
“I have had several conversations with our employees regarding the situation. Many also have personal ties to the conflict zone through relatives and friends. Concern for the well-being of loved ones is high.,” says Janne Repo, Softability’s CEO.
For several years, Softability has actively carried social responsibility by directing some of its profits to various aid organizations to support disadvantaged people in society, often children and young people.
For this year, the decision on the grant target was clear. The distress in Ukraine is now so high that we want to play our part in supporting the country in overcoming the tragedy that has befallen it. We will donate 2 % of our profits to the Finnish Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, which supports people in need in Ukraine.
Later in the spring, we will also be organizing the traditional “Developing for a better world” day, during which everyone from Softability will be able to contribute their help to Ukraine. The income from the day will be paid in full to the selected grant recipient.
But amid the prevailing distress, you can see things that create a spark of hope among us.
“The incredible tenacity shown by the Ukrainian people and the unanimous consensus of the international community and the sincere desire to help are things that lay the groundwork for a better future. Hopefully peace will come soon.” Repo hopes.
